This is a difficult and unnerving time for us all. We are concerned for our families, for our coworkers, and for the children and families we serve. We want all to stay safe yet we also want to have our “normal” lives back.

During the coming weeks, we do not know how the events will play out. Please know that through this uncertainty, we are in this together.

Boys & Girls Aid is taking proactive steps to address employee concerns and potential program and agency challenges. First and foremost, we want to maintain a safe workplace and adopt practices protecting the health of employees, our clients, visitors, and others. We are also looking at ways to ensure the continuity of our mission and program operations, as offering info sessions online to our community members who are stepping up to support the children we serve.

Our direct care staff who works directly with the youth we serve at Boys & Girls Aid is keeping children safe and are supporting foster parents. For foster youth, this time of uncertainty can add to their anxiety and worries. Our staff is well trained and versed and have the empathy to do their best. Their expertise is needed now more than ever.

Our permanency services staff is supporting children and will have limited visits with them. This is a very difficult time, the work they do is vital to the children’s continued progress.

Our adoption teams are feverishly working these last few weeks as we have had several adoption committees. The families we serve are eager to begin their families, and we are excited and eager to assist them.

The easy road is to be frustrated, irritable and unkind. But we believe we can get through this uncertainty by keeping our best selves present in the moment. We believe we’ll look back and find our resiliency, our wit, our cooperation and our humor is whatgot us through.  Boys & Girls Aid is a 135 year agency, with a lasting legacy of serving children and families and making a difference.

Here at Boys & Girls Aid, we are grateful for the heart and care our staff, donors, and volunteers share with the youth and families we serve. We will continue to make a difference, and we won’t give up on any children.
