We hope everyone is enjoying the summer despite the heat. At least it stopped raining here, although not so much in Kentucky and elsewhere. And now there’s the fires!  But we digress.

For those who were not able to attend our post Crab & Rib Dinner luncheon at the end of  June, we enjoyed a very tasty buffet, compliments of Qdoba, coordinated by Jan Bliss and Vicki Wright along with the board helping with setup. We were also thrilled when HQ announced the Cypress Branch’s contribution this past year was $60, 676 Thank you all!

At this last meeting, we thanked our outgoing board  — with special thanks to Diann Harland, our outgoing President, and to Jan Bliss and Cherie Sanville, our outgoing Vice-Presidents.  We welcomed in the new board who will do their best to carry-on.

Save the Dates

So here we go into 2022-23! Please save Friday, September 16 at 11:30 am for our Annual Membership Kickoff. Our luncheon will be in both the Hazelglade and the Kalapuya rooms in the new Activity Center. More coming soon about the particulars.

Ahead of that, we also wanted to remind everyone that the “Community Information Day” is coming up — Thursday, August 11th from 5-7 pm in the Event Center.  Boys and Girls Aid will be accepting renewals and new membership applications as always.  We’ll have information for new members along with some goodies for visitors to our table.  If you would like to help out, let us know.

Mark your calendars and hope to see you there.

New Board Vice President

We also want to share some excellent news.  At our June luncheon we received an encouraging response for signups to help planning our monthly luncheons.  We were able to get the commitment of these most wonderful Luncheon Chairs through the end of the year and into next. This new approach is our hope for sharing the load more with the planning of our luncheons. In the past this fell heavily on our Vice President(s).

Since then, past emeritus, Maureen Larsen, offered to rejoin the board in whatever capacity we might be able to use her skills.  Of course, we thought of the perfect role — as our 2022-23 Vice President  and in that role to help coordinate the Luncheon Chairs and their planning.  In this way, she can report to the board and our LC’s don’t have to attend our monthly board meetings, but rather plan and be creative with whatever sage counsel they might need to do that.  This new collaboration meets this coming week to begin their deliberations for lunches through the end of 2022. They all will work with Vicki Wright who continues on as our luncheon designer extraordinaire!

Finally, please take a moment to read Margie’s excellent article in this month’s Charbonneau Villager.  Spot on, Margie!

That’s it for now.  Let us know if any questions.  See you all very soon!
